National March for Life
Every year RTL-SC sends one or more buses to Washington, D.C. for the national March for Life. The March commemorates the Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion in the United States.
This year, Shelby County sent four buses, including two from Lehman Catholic High School, to Washington for the March. Predominantly high-school age young people, the bus riders attended the Youth Rally and Mass at the Verizon Center. Following the Mass, marchers moved to the rally on the mall, from where they walked down Constitution Avenue to the Supreme Court building.
Following the bus trip, youth participants have the opportunity to enter an essay contest, "What the March for Life meant to me." This year's winner was Andy Lawrence of Lehman High School, who won $100. Congratulations, Andy! (He is pictured far left in the photo at left.)
