RTL Now Hiring: Program Director and Thrift Shop Manager
Right to Life of Shelby County is seeking a program director. The position is paid, part-time (10-15 hours per week), and reports to the board of directors of Right to Life (RTL). The program director has responsibility for overall management of all aspects of RTL operations excepting the thrift shop. The position requires professionalism, initiative, and the ability to interact productively with diverse constituencies. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
-- Organize and conduct RTL programs such as Candlelight Vigil, Life Chain, and Oratory Contest. -- Oversee and assist with volunteer-led programs such as Garage Sale, Golf Outing, Fair Booth, Parade Float, and Speakers Bureau. -- Manage RTL membership (500+) base, including list management, member communications, and dues and donations processing. -- Produce bimonthly newsletter: collect life-issues-related content; write articles; lay out newsletter; coordinate printing and mailing (including e-newsletter e-mailing). -- Manage RTL website. -- Serve as liaison to other local and state-level pro-life organizations. -- Oversee and ensure compliance with all relevant legal and financial obligations.
Essential skills and capacities:
-- Knowledge of and dedication to the pro-life movement. See our mission statement. -- Excellent oral and written communication skills. -- Working knowledge of MS Office programs (Excel and Word).
Preferred skills and capacities:
-- Web design experience. -- Facilities and/or personnel management experience. -- Experience in pro-life organizations or activities (professional or volunteer).
RTL is also seeking a thrift shop manager, immediate opening
The thrift shop manager is responsible for day-to-day management of the Right to Life office and thrift shop. The position is paid, part-time (approximately 20-25 hours per week) and the manager is an employee of RTL. He/she reports to the board of directors and works in cooperation with RTL’s program director.
Major duties include:
Operating the RTL thrift shop:
Managing volunteers; handling all facets of store organization and presentation, including receiving, cleaning, and sorting clothing donations; serving clients and visitors; tracking and reporting store activity and income; making and reporting bank deposits.
Managing the RTL office:
Retrieving and processing mail; processing donations and membership forms; making purchases for office and thrift shop.
